Hatchet diet...is this ok?

I have been feeding my hatchets fereeze dried blood worms evey day. They love them. I also give them some flake food. Should they be getting th blood worms only as a treat or only every few days. They gobble up both flakes and worms. I thought that worms every day would be fine since they are carnivorous, but I want to make sure that they are getting a good diet.

i'd try to vary their diet a bit more, you can feed more flakes and i'd go with frozen bloodworms instead of freeze dried. you can also give them brine shrimp as a treat every once in a while. you can also give them tubifex worms and mosquito larvae. i think they'll eat most live, meaty foods

Being a top dweller, more into insect/larvae. FD tubi stucked to glass worked along with broken/cut FD blood. Frozen blod works as well but you may see few harchet swimming around with bloodworm sticking out of its mouth. lol
Remember, hatchets are more semsiive to chlorine thus circulate the new water well, even with dechlorinator before using.

tanks for the tips. I am currently feeding them half Blood worms half flake diet. I plan on updating to OMega One, so that they will get healthier and meatier food rather than the fishmeal that they are on. either way, they seem happy to eat anyhing.

What kind of hatchet? marble, silver or asian hatchet (Chela caeruleostigmata)?
All hatchets may think they can fly (look at their pectoral fins/wings, lol), so cover the tank well in the back, fliter area.

I've got 7 silver hatchets...I feed them frozen and freeze-dried bloodworms as well as tubifex and don't have any problems with them....

Well I have some marble hatchet fishes in my tank, I have 2 of them and I just feed them basic tropical fish flakes. Nothing special and they seem to love them. Although I have to feed a LOT of food now because my angels rob a lot of the food, and the other fishes don't get a chance to eat as much.

Ok thank you guys. My hatchets seem to love everything. Everytime i feed the tank and stick my fingertips in the water, they like to nibble on them....

Lol, that is normal during feeding time or any time I've done the same with my african cichlids before.
