'Dancing' harlies

Nice to see a dedicated Harlie subforum here I love 'em, they're a great beginner fish as they're so easy to keep.

I have 7 in my 12 gallon tank. A couple weeks ago some movement caught my eye; I first thought one of them was in convulsions or having a seizure or something, then I noticed there were two together.

Best as I can describe, they were behind a large flat leaf most of the time but from what I could see they were rubbing each other side by side. I wondered if they might be mating...they haven't done it since.

I looked for eggs but I've enough pond snails around that they might have been eaten.

I've just never seen that before. Of course when I cautiously approached the tank for a better look they stopped....

I don't know much about Harlie courting rituals - I think they spawn on the bottom of plant leaves (I've seen a picture of them spawning under plant leaves), but it could be some pre spawing thing.

That sounds almost exactly what they do when they go to spawn. Congrats on the spawning happening, you know the water is right for them then
