55G. 5 BA Tetras, 4 Corys, 1 Betta: Can I add 6 Rasboras ?

I have a cycled, planted 55 gallon tank. I have 5 Buenos Aires Tetras, 4 Bronze Corys and a betta and a Sail fin Pleco.
I have some MTS and some Glass shrimp.
Can I add 6 Rasboras ?

how is your betta doing in that community? bettas generally don't work for community tanks, or if they do it only lasts for a period of time until someone gets hurt

however, betta aside i'd definitely say that you could add the 6 rasboras, you could probably also get one more buenos aires and two more bronze corys to even out the numbers

I am new at this.
The Betta was a rescue and was in a crappy 2.5 gallon. He has been in the 55 for a couple of days and is active. Always swimming from one end of the tank to the other. He chases the BAs but does not nip. The BAs are about the same size as he is. He is a raggedy looking fish. I have a new 5 gallon set up if necessary. I am not into Bettas but I want to give him a chance for some freedom.

Spacewise it'll be fine to add more fish. Just keep an eye on the Betta!

Should I worry about th Betta hurting the BAs or visa versa ?

hmm, it sounds like you should be a bit more worried about the BAs fin nipping than the betta attacking them at this particular point.

good for you for rescuing the poor little guy

Agreed; as I'm sure you've noticed bettas aren't very fast. They can move quick, but if they're chased then they're not going to do well. A lot depends on the individual fish, and sometimes what worked for a month or so suddenly doesn't work. He'd love that 5 gallon if where he's at doesn't work.

I had read somewhere rasboras like to be in odd numbered schools for some reason.

The 5 gallon has been up for a month. Has live plant, moss, glass shrimp and MTS.
When he was in the 2.5 he ate a couple shrimp and maybe a snail. At the moment he chases the BAs. He is mainly high in the tank and the Bas are low. He is sort of dithering them.
