The stag on the left is absolutely beautiful in person. It has a blue base and stems. This is a frag of the exact coral on the Warner Marine ReefPure Ultimate Aminos bottles.

That's a good question. LOL I have no cue. My friend gave me that coral and the green one to the right. I guess I'm going to have to look them up.

The coral in the bottom middle is my first acro that's grown from a 1/2" frag to a big 3" frag. LOL (first coral to be moved off the frag rack). It's Cali Tort.

Yea it's a red monti cap. It's one of the first SPS corals I purchased over a year ago. I want one on each end of the tank. This one has grown the fastest. The other monti cap I stuck on the bottom of my tank didn't grow as well.

Thanks Hypnox. It's a whole lot of trial and error. Some corals do great and some RTN for no reason at all. All and all it's both fun and challenging.

Since upgrading my lighting my corals seem to be happier. (me too ) Here's a photo of one of my orange monti caps. It's the one near the bottom of my tank.

Great lookin monti with some nice growth tips along the edges. My green montis are really taking off too. Montis are some of the fastest growing corals I've kept thus far, even faster than the acros it seems. After reading your posts on the octopus skimmer I got into researching them and picked up an octopus 800s skimmer (HOB type). It's a monster. I'll put up a review in the coming weeks on it. Very impressed with it so far.

Thanks,
Mike

Yeah this monti wasn't growing at all under my old lighting. Nice score on the octo 800. Those octo's look smaller in the photos ! LOL Can't wait to read your review.

Update:
I picked up a wild acro colony the first week of December. Here's what it looked like at the time of purchase. It's better looking in person. Base is red and orange with green hairy PE.

In one month it's starting to sprout new growth (all lower right side -3 o'clock to 6 o'clock). Except that one branch at very top of the picture.

I guess you are using HQI MH/T5?

I'm using (2) 250 watt HQI MH with ReefLux 12K for growth. I use to have (1) 250 watt Phoenix 14K, but growth was little to none. Color of corals was better, but only in the top 4" of the tank. Everywhere else the corals were STN'ing and brown.
