My snarky Neptune :(

Looks like I might finally have no choice but to remove Neptune into his own tank. I hadn't planned on using my old 10 gallon for that; but Neptune's behavior is so betta-like I am not sure I have any other option anymore.

Neptune's always been a bit on the bully side since I got him 9 months ago. But it's never gotten out of control. And it's ALWAYS been related to food. The rest of the time.. he didn't seem to care what my sweet cories were doing.

But now that the rasboras are in there things have completely changed. What's a little odd is that he doesn't seem to care at all about their presence, in that he never chases them at all. But he does need to compete a bit more for food; as the rasboras are all so much faster than he is. So he's not glutting himself anymore. I hand and spot feed for the most part and make sure everyone gets some food in the tank. But Neptune is likely a bit more hungry than he has ever been used to being.

So now he has become rather relentless with my poor, sweet cories. He guards anything remotely left on the bottom and has been chasing them way too much for comfort.

I am not happy. I love my little Neptune but he cannot live with my cories any longer. I think he needs to live alone in his own tank.

Just wanted to share.

Well what a mess. This isn't how I planned things, at all.

It's only taken me what...hmm 3 hours to not only manage to catch him, but to quickly set up my old 10g, where he is going to have to live alone since I cannot trust him now with tank mates. I'm really glad I still had a bunch of old deco on hand along with probably still 20 lbs. of sand.

So I managed to scare the out of all the fish in the 20 while I was trying to just catch one; and scare the out of Neptune (quite literally, too) through the process.

I sure hope they are all happy now.

*sigh* I am exhausted.

Well I did all this just before dark, so Neptune had an entire evening of almost pitch black to calm himself. But he is still pretty spooked. I guess I should have figured as much... it took an entire 24 hours for him to stop hiding in the cave when I upgraded my tank a month ago.

He did at least want to eat though, even if he didn't want to leave the relative safety of a few ornaments. He was still quite interested in his bloodworms. I'll add pics or a video a little later when it's brighter outside.

Well here he is, hiding for now:

And yep, I'd say he's mad at me.

Well it's taken awhile (36 hours, actually), but Mr. Grumpy Pants ("jaws") has finally come out of hiding and seems to be doing better.

In fact, they all look happier...those in the 20 look more secure, and Neptune looks happier to have a home to himself and my undivided attention!

I wonder if he's got a betta costume on.. because he sure is acting like one!
