Curious behaviour

After a day of settling in to their new homes I woke up this morning to find my little fishy freinds at the bottom of the tank grazing on the driftwood like catfish - I thought "crikey, the poor blighters must be hungry" and fed them, they took a few sniffs at the flakes and went right on back to picking at the driftwood! Anyone else heard of this behaviour? (ps: here's a short video http://xenomorph.fishloreblog.com/wp...ingguppies.wmv)

Re: Curious behaviour

Looks like he's happily browsing for food to me. He looks comfortable and inquisitive.

Who knows what tiny particles he's found there but it really seems to have taken his fancy. My male molly is also a 'bottom feeder', except he picks at the gravel, rather than driftwood. He just doesn't like to go to the surface to eat and he'd much rather eat the remains on the bottom. Don't know why.

Looks like a happy fish to me. Maybe they used to be fed sinking food by the fish store?

At least yours are eating... I can't seem to get mine to do that lately.

My little guppies do that also but they prefer to graze through the gravel and plants. I find that sometimes they prefer to eat the food once it sinks to the bottom and other times, they quickly gobble up the food once it hits the water's surface.

Yeah one of my guppies likes to do that too. She pecks at the cave, that I got the fish a while ago, all the time. Strangely enough she is the only one that does it, the other guppies don't graze at anything =\

I guess its just one of those behavioral traits =x
