Just got some new Guppies

I just finished acclimatising 3 new guppies into my 7.5gal tank.

They are all male. I will get some pics as soon as i can.

In the bag they were in when they were being transported from the LFS to my house the biggest of the 3 was nipping the other 2. I was getting slightly worried, but now that they are in the tank they seem to leave each other alone.

1 question. In the lfs 2 of them were in the same tank, and the other in the one next to them. The 2 that were in the tank together look as if they are either on the starting points of finrot or are in the proces of recovering from it. I always use melafix for the first 3 days when i get new fish anyway, but my question is, should i keep using the melafix until i know for sure that they are ok, or just do the first 3 days as usual?

thanks

Re: Just got some new Guppies

Congrats with your guppies. I would treat them with Melafix until you're sure that they're ok.

Gwenz, you're just whetting our appetites now. We want pix, we want pix, we want pix! I saw the nicest guppies at the LFS today. Nice dark grey body, and dark blue tail.

i'd treat them for 7 days, as the bottle says i think.. then see how they are and put AC in to clear the meds out if you want.

Re: Just got some new Guppies

Me too. He's looks just like Bruno did.

He's also the smallest of the 3, but still he ate the most out of the 3 and he seems to boss the other 2 around.

I'm a bit worried though, as Sky (the blue one) gets all the food. Ricky, the one with the orange tail gets some too, but this morning, Dave was left with nothing. He managed to get some b4 the other 2 this afternoon tho, but what should i do if he doesn't get enough?

thanks

Re: Just got some new Guppies

lol. I took loads which were just orange streaks but i was about to give up when they all stayed still so i took it as fast as i could. lol Also, my camera has a setting for sports which take the picture faster and stops bluring so much.

Re: Just got some new Guppies

Ooooh, sports setting. I should try that. I also have a 'playing childen' setting. I guess it would do the same sort of trick. Shame there isn't a 'swimming fast and constantly in water' setting.
