Pregnant Guppies Dying

We are having so many problems with our Pregnant Guppies. They keep dying in pregnancies. None of our males are dying at all. We have had so many females and have just lost another 4 females in this last week. We have only 5 females left now and have moved them out of the main tank into a very large tank on their own with no males to bother them. Water etc seems to be correct, so we just don't know what is happening and why.

We only have had 3 lots of babies and they are doing ok, they are just over a week old and were born 24 and 36 hours after bringing them home from our LFS.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

sorry to hear that...
I am not sure why the females are dying but not the males, but it might be because they are stressed. If a female guppy is stressed during pregnancy she will not give birth and eventually die without giving birth to the fry.
Good luck, and welcome to fishlore.

This is terrible, but I looked at the topic of this thread and immediately made a Lost reference in my head. >.>

Having said that, I'm sorry about the guppy situation. Are they dying before or after you separate them from the others? And are there (enough) hiding areas to minimize stress/pecking? I've read that flexibacter and/or general stress can make livebearers succumb just a few days before giving birth (see http://www.mombu.com/aquarium/aquari...h-2776078.html)

How big is your tank and are those females new

For me, I have similiar problem with those that I bought recently.
I think it is related to stress factor and the size of the tank.
They have stop dying on me though, guess they are happy with the condition now.
