Will a salt dip help my thrashed guppy?

One of my new guppies got sucked into the intake of my magnum 350 and got pretty beat up, shes still alive and kicking but i was wondering if maybe a salt dip would aid in the healing proccess? Shes got a nice chunk of flesh missing up by her dorsal fin and one of her pectoral fins is absent, shes just kind of chilling at the top of the tank. Any suggestions, also, how possible is it for a 2.5 in pictus to eat a 1 in male guppy? My male guppy went missing a couple days ago, no signs of him, noticed my pictus' belly was HUGE haha. bummer

I don't think the salt would help. A place with really clean water, good food and no stress will help her heal really fast. If you have a small tank you could use for a quarantine tank it would be perfect. keep an eye on her.

I agree with butterfly...salt will just stress her more......adding some extra stress coat+ with some frozen thawed brine shrimp and bloodworms, will get her on the mend...getting a breeders net will help her also..that way she wont be picked on by tankmates....good luck!

alright, sweet, thanks for the help, i dont have one right now, *thats seriously my next investment after i finish my 20g goldfish tank* im rather stringent about my water quality so i think she will be fine, thanks though! What size tank do you think would be best for a QT tank? for general purpose? Would a powerhead hooked up to a sponge filter be adequite filtration for said tank? Thanks for the suggestions, theyre still new to the tank so they arent taking to the frozen foods right now.

you can get a rubbermaid tub at walmart pretty cheap to use as a qt tank...just need the heater and an extra filter..they come in all sizes......but the small breeders box will keep her safe for now
