You've been given some different opinions about tank size for guppies, it's up to you to decide for yourself now.
Imo, at the very least a 10..better yet a 20

Here's my take on your situation, Cheeseburger - give the 5 gallon to the betta, and let the guppies have the 10. I have 3 male guppies in a 30 gallon long tank, which has other fish but isn't even fully stocked, so plenty of room and hiding places. The guppies are pretty aggressive with each other even with a ton of room - I think it would be way worse in a too-small space. I think less that 10 gallons won't work for a permanent solution.

If it is not possible to give them the 10g, if I were in your shoes, I would be considering rehoming the guppies. How many do you have total in the divided 10g right now?

(If I had a 5 gallon, it would be a puffer tank )

I have it divided so the betta on the other side

I put the gupps in the 5 if agression occurs

I will either put the gupps in a 10g
Take the betta out put him in a breeders box ( at the moment)
Take out divider
Rehome the betta ( I dont know how nobody around here cares for bettas here)

Put gupps in the 29

I love my bettas....not sure how anyone cannot..such personality in them especially with human interactions

I totally disagree with the link ...and maybe its time to update some of them

It clearly stats it in the beginng paragraph thats where i got confused

If you read down to the bottom of that paragraph, it says to remove the adults after spawning, not leave them in there.

That was my plan with the tetras after the breeding process but there was confusion
