guppy fry. had no idea how fast they are. hope some of them survive (on their own). i should have realized that at least one the females would be preggo when I got them, i could have been prepared-at least tried to be prepared.

Oops, sorry. I only saw the mollies listed in your tank information.

Guppy fry are so cool! They grow so fast. Congratulations again!

Congratulations! About how many are there? I tried to count but it is difficult.

What are you planning on doing with the fry if they survive?

I put mine in a breeder's net. I hope that helps. They sell them at Petsmart if you have one near you.

Congrats on the fry! Maybe you could make a breeder net. Do you know any kids with Knex? Really anything that you could use to make a frame and then cut the wide part of a pair of panty hose and slip it over the frame, tie the end an... presto breeder net!

I don't have experience with guppies but neither my female or male mollies have eaten any fry. Not that I've noticed anyway.

I'm googling Fishers Island. You have me curious

School age kids. They're building blocks. Picture a plastic snap together erector set. (might have just dated myself a bit there)

I found it on Google maps and looked at the arial picture. It looks like a very nice place to live! It looks quiet. I don't think I could deal with that ferry biz though. I was afraid to go on a whale watch in Boston so I know I couldn't go through that every time I needed to shop.

Yeah, I'm a scardy cat that has been known to play with Knex

So my fry has been alive for three days now--i think around a dozen of them with three female guppies and i just put in 2 snails. No one has bothered the fry. Shuold I leave as is or should i get a breeder net?
Seems to me I should leave well enough alone, what do you think?

I agree. My fry have always been able to survive on their own for the most part. I think they will be fine. I think worse case scenario you may lose a couple if you haven't lost them already, but that's just playing the odds. I actually don't think you'll lose any. They do grow fast after all.

I have three that I haven't been able to catch in my guppy tank since Saturday. They're still alive and doging the adults. If you have plenty of hiding places for them, especially at the surface, they should be fine.

Hope this helps!

Congrats on the fry, I have several batches of guppy fry in my tank and I have never taken them out or put them in a breeders net. I have plenty of plants both floating and fake for them to hide in. They grow really fast and its exciting to watch them especially when they start to color up. Enjoy........
