Bloated Male Guppy

Hello

I will get stright to the point, one of my male guppys has a bloated stomach. I only noticed it about 5 days ago. I checked my levels and the nitrate was 50 (all others were ok) so i did a water change.

He lays at the bottom of the tank, but when he swims hes sort of pointing upwards and when he stops he starts to sink. I have also notice his poo is a white/see-through colour, is there anything it can be?

I've looked on the internet and I dont think its Dropsy his scales look fine and his eyes arn't popping.

I did think Nitrate poisoning but all my other fish are ok.

Would appreciate any help

Sounds like he may be constipated. You can feed him a small amount of boiled peas, with the shells removed and cut up into small pieces. This helps get his digestive system moving again.

Oh thats a relief. Should i use a quarentine him (what females give bith in) so i can keep a close eye on him or is he ok at the bottom of the tank?

Putting him in a quarantine tank doesn't hurt, as long as it's cycled. Does he have any other symptoms?

Hello KayStar. I suggest using thawed, frozen peas as compared to canned peas. Canned peas may contain salt that you don't want. Great tip from above. Peas act as a laxative, high in protein. Quarantine isn't necessary as the peas will be good for all of your fish. It wouldn't hurt to feed your fish peas once a week. It may take a time or two before they realize it's food. If you want to quarantine that is up to you but it may cause more stress on the fish. Use your best judgement here.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery.
