| Guppies eat guppies!?! Help
I have been adding additional guppies to my 30 gallon set up over the past few days. At the peak of additions, I had zebra danios (2), neon tetras (2), oct cats (2), and assorted guppys (8). Within 36 hours of adding an additional 2 guppies, there entire back halves had been nipped off by another or others, with both being killed. Its only guppys being aggresive with each other, the others are very peaceful. They are all males to prevent breeding. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on what to do? My water parameters all are within check. |

| Welcome to FishLore
Sorry to hear your fish aren't getting along.
I have 3 guppies (I call them my marauding gang of guppies) in my 30g when I tired to add 2 more the original 3 went crazy on the new guys.
I had to move them into my 10g.
You can try adding more cover or switching decorations around. Otherwise, you'll have to separate them.
Good luck with them.......I'm convinced guppies are crazy. lol |

| Were the 2 new guppies smaller in size? I found that it helps if all guppies in a tank are about the same size.
But then again, some guppies are just plain crazy. I've also had a few of those...
Good luck. |

| with my guppy tanks, ive found that you can have either 1m to 3-4f, all females, or they are super agressive in just an all male tank..its like they need those fems around to be non agressive...only downfall is that you will have fry no matter what with girls....I havent had any success with an all male guppy tank maybe others have |

| I thought my "guppy gang" of 5 males was fine in my 40g (with 4 neon tetras, one male sword, one upside down cat, one ghost cat, 4 dwarf oto cats, & 2 corys). The "gang" are all about the same size, and I never introduce just one at a time. They do occasionally "roughhouse" as so many guys do, but have never done damage to each other, and the sword was tiny when they joined him so he accepted them. Last week I noticed that one of them was a bit fat - I hope he's not a she (I looked for a gravid spot, but didn't see anything). |

| Same thing happened to me, it seems like they are "ok" if they all came together at the same time, but if you add some to the already existing, then there is a problem. |

| I had the same problem with 1 smaller male picked on the larger one until it just died. Now I have 1 male with 4 females and he is a real macho man. A real shame as the males are far prettier than the females................ |

| Anyone know of a good way to minimze aggression when adding new guppies to an existing guppy tank? Just move the decor around to break up existing territories?
All my guppies were raised together, so I've never had a problem with aggression. But, I am wondering what would happen if I were to add some new guppies to the tank, for some more color... |
