What is going on with my female guppy?

We purchased guppies in October. Two days later one female had about 20-30 fry. She has had fry several more times since then.

The last week she has seemed very nervous and started hiding. Yesterday, I noticed that she was swimming close to the top and swims tilted to the side.

What is going on? The other fish seem okay.

What did your water readings say?

NH3 - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 0
pH 6.4

I did a 20% water change on Monday.

She is still hiding behind the filter.

Hmm... she may still be holding some fry. You could q-tank her and see what happen then. Her behavior may change being by herself.

What fish are in the tank with her? Any male guppies? Are you using strips to test?

She is the oldest. The others are 5 months old and younger. I only have guppies, male and female.

I use a strip to test for NH3 and solutions to test for nitrates, nitrites and pH. I also have a an ammonia alert from Seachem. I use Prime.

Hmm.. my guess would be either swim bladder disorder or that she's going to drop fry soon. Does she seem to be eating?

It sounds most likely as if she has a swim bladder disorder. Hard to be sure without observing her but another possibility is internal parasites.

If you have vita-chem, garlic guard or fish protector, 1-2 drops of each per gallon per day is what I'd be adding either way.
