What's up with my guppy?

I'm not sure whats going on with my female guppy. She has a clear string coming out of her backside. Is this waste? Because I don't think it is...She also if I'm correct, has a gravid spot. Is this some kind of pre-birth?

I have had this tank for about a month, it is 10 gallons. I have 2 ghost shrimp, a snail, 1 other female guppy, 1 male and 4 platies. I feed the fish flakes.

this stringy poop is caused by an intestinal parasetic infection that cause translucent feces. The treatment of this condition is rather easy, Jungle Labs makes a good parasite medication that fizzes so you know that your fish are getting their needed treatment. Chances are, one or more fish could have this, so medicating the whole tank would be beneficial. Follow the directions of the medication very carefully and take care not to overdose.

Good Luck

Welcome to Fishlore.

What's the usual diet for them? Sometimes they can get poo like that from what they eat, but it often is a sign of parasites.

If clear poo like that keeps up for more than a day, I'll treat it to be safe. Sometimes nibbling on plants and decor for tiny food causes it, but with what you're feeding them, it shouldn't be a very constant thing.

I think it might have been a parasite, and i got her meds too late. I just found her dead :[

Keep an eye on your other fish, because I had a string of deaths like that. One after the other they would succumb before I figured out what it was. I caught it right before I lost my last guppy male thankfully! If one shows it, they could all have it so I medicated the whole tank.

I'm sorry that you lost her. I'd treat the tank for parasites, the other fish most likely have them too.
