Angels and Guppies?

Hey all, I was thinking about getting a 29 gallon tank in awhile and was wondering if I could keep 4 Angelfish and some guppies. Would the Angels pick on the guppies? Or would there be a better choice like more angels or another type of fish like Killifish?
Thanks,
Joe

It should be fine. Just make sure that you purchase baby Angels. If they grow up with the Guppies they should leave them alone.

As NIck said if you get the guppies and small angels together then it is likely that the angels will not harm the guppys, but the guppy fry will be fair game.

However if you buy 4 young Angels and 2 of them pair off when they grow up you will have a far bigger set of problems coming to you.

Best bet would be to get one young Angel and let that grow up with the guppies and I am sure Agabr will be along soon with a link to her to her Stocking plan thread with loads of ideas for you for a 29gal tank

I'd look at fish larger than gups but not aggressive. Tetras can be compatible. I'd keep 2 angels at most in a tank that size, 4 could be difficult at best.

I wouldn't try a cichlid tank if you're gunna have guppies. If you do a GBR, do a pair. I don't knwo if you haev space though. Someone back me up on this lol

It is likely that they will be ok if both are young and the angels are small...I have had an angel and 2 guppys (both female) togather for almost a year got them a day apart guppys first...The guppys are about 2" and the angel(Fred) is about 8"... This is only IMO hope it works for you Rob

But could I get a pair of GBR and 2 Angels? That's about 21 gallons of fish. What could I do with the other 8 gallons?
