Found a baby guppy today :)

So I get off work today and was feeding the fish when I noticed a little bitty thing swimming in and out of the java moss I had put by the heater. I look a bit closer and it was a baby guppy. I dropped a pellet in the general area of the java moss as well as some finely ground flakes once I discovered the little guy/girl.

As far as I know that is the first one born in the tank. I am thinking it was my blue tailed one that had him but its kind of a toss up as both Blue, Big Momma, and Split Tail are all fat with fry.

The little critter seems to be settled into the java moss and as I watched it took cover in the moss every time one of the bigger fish swam by. It is an awesome day and that little fish is my favorite one in the tank now. It even gets brave and swims out a bit from the moss to take cover under one of the nearby plants. I am excited to see what its coloration comes out to be as well as if its a male or female.

I love this hobby.

Blue as you can guess has a blue and clear tail.

Big Momma is a half black.

Split Tail is also a half black but her tail got split a few days after she was added to the tank. Its healing up but I can still identify her as her lower fin is all black vs Big Momma's is just partially black.

Mini Mike a pimped out male with Blue, green, and black coloring.

Baby Girl is my smallest adult female, she has a snake tail.

Last but not least there is Huggy Bear a yellow peacock tail with a red strip down his side, he is the other pimp of the tank .

The baby doesn't have a name yet but I will come up with something once I see a coloration and sex.

I will try to get some pictures of them but its a bit of a challenge to get good pictures of guppies. I may have to actually go out and buy a digital camera to get some good ones as my phone camera is not the best.

Oh, hadn't thought about a frog...

Hi everyone! My name is Theresa and I've been overrun with guppies! I have no idea the variety, but the tails seem to be predominantly yellow, with black spots and squiggles! One male has a pretty red stripe like a neon tetra.

We started with three guppies in our community tank. Now everything is gone 'cept the otocinclus and a gagillion fry! I've probably got 12-15 young adults, and 30-40 fry of varying sizes. I guess none of the parents are big enough to eat them!

So now we are trying to establish a bit of the "circle of life" and add something that WILL eat the fry! I've been wanting a red tailed shark, but probably don't have quite enough room for him in there. We had a dwarf gourami a few years ago, and before that a betta. Any suggestions? I'm looking for a solo fish, not more schoolers.

Thanks!
