Wonderful surprise

Ok, so... I have a several guppies (2 male, 3 female... don't worry, one of the males is not interested in the least in any of the females in there). I knew one of the males and one of the females were breeding, but it didn't make me any less surprised when I found 2 fry yesterday! My friend had brought me over 2 of his mollies and while I was taking fish count I found a small guppy! While I was looking at that one an even smaller one darted out of the breeding grass! I'm so excited! Obviously I knew it would happen, I just didn't know if I'd see the results.

Then today after I was done feeding my fish, my son spotted ANOTHER one, not in the same spot, and seems to be even smaller than my smallest one! I'm a bit afraid for that one as it's not as well hidden as the others are, but I'm letting nature take its course.

I started feeding them some liquid fry food, but they seem content to eat the algae that's on the breeding grass (floating at the top near the filter).

I just had to share since the last time any of my fish had fry they were all eaten and/or died... whichever, I never saw them again.

I tried to take some pics last night, but it didn't work out, I'll try again this weekend, if I get anything worthwhile, I'll post them for everyone.

Since there's not that many of them, and now I can't seem to locate the 2 smallest ones that I had seen, I'm going to keep the one that's still in there.

Oh just wait. I have a 55g guppy tank fully planted. I started with 5 or 6 guppies. My tank is full. I have left it to survival of the fittest because I just about drove myself nuts at first trying to "save the babies". I see new and smaller ones everyday in there. I just finished my planting completely of course I will probably move some stuff around but I will try to post a picture of it to see what you think. Did not mean to hijack your post but trust me I have had this tank setup and running for less than a year and it is full. I am giving away to friends. Wish you were closer I am sure I could spare a few.

Ok, the tiniest one is definately gone. The other smaller one that I thought was gone is still there, along with the bigger one. they appear to be female at this time. I think if I wind up with more I'm going to move the males to my sons 29 gal tank, and let nature take it's course. I just had a molly die, so (bad as it is to say), there is a little more room than there had been. I think I might also be able to give them away to friends as well.

We've got about a dozen swimming around in our guppy tank now, but 1 of the females is going to drop soon. The tank has flat glass marbles for the substrate, combined with floating guppy grass and lots of plants so most fry make it until I can catch them and move them to a breeder net.

I take flakes, put them in a sandwich bag folded over and crush them to powder with a rolling pin. This works for feeding the adults and fry.
