Hi everyone I am new to fish lore. I have had my 27 gallon Perfecto hexagon tank on a pine base stand set up for about 4 years now. For a while I had about 40 guppies (past 3 years) and they started to die of old age. so I got 1 Gourami , 8 Danios, 3 red Platties, 2 Plec*s, and one poor fancy tail male guppy! I was thinking I would get another tank with some new guppy friends for "the survivor" because he looks to be pretty lonely, his male friend died the other day. I was thinking maybe a 10 gallon. also i thought it was funny when i was thinking about it, this tank started with only 10 fancy tail guppies!

In a ten gallon you could easily acomodate 5 happy guppies

that sounds good but i had one more question, someone once told me, i think it was a guy at the LFS while we were waiting online that you can have 20 guppies per 10 gals of water i thought this would be cruel and he had no idea what he was talking about

I agree, it sounds cruel. 20 guppies would be too many for a 10g. Not only bio-load wise, but swim room.

i know that is exactly what i thought
