I just purchased a single male guppy with long, yellow, black spotted fins and introduced him to my 10 gallon tank with a betta and 2 ghost shrimps. I know I know what your thinking "Your not supposed to do that! thats dangerous! thats v
cruel!" but, before I put the guppy in, of course, I quarantined it. But, using an old betta cup (the things that pet stores normally put bettas in to sell) I pu they guppy in and floated it in the tank. Over one day, I watched the reaction of the betta. After everything was calm, I then released the guppy. The betta immediately swam at the guppy and nipped him on the tail. After that, he never botherd the guppy again. they share food, the guppy even follows the betta around as if their friends! lol but, to insure, I will be on constant analysis.

This should probably not be attempted again as bettas are known for their aggression against smaller animals and those with long, flashy tail. Im just fortunate that mine is is more tolerant.

I've kept a male betta in a guppy tank... he didnt bother the adults, but he loved to munch on the fry lol... yours probably thought you were trying to feed him the guppy and then figured out after tasting him and testing if he was a threat, decided that he would tolerate him.

yeah, im thinkin about going all male guppys in the tank but I really wanna get a female so she can reproduce and I can sell the young to an aquarium for cash. lol
