Giant guppies?

I saw some guppies at my LFS. They were 5 inches! It said jumbo guppies but I've never seen them or heard of them before. They look like regular guppies. They also have giant danios, everything is big LOL
Anyone ever heard of giant guppies?

As stated in the articles/posts, I believe it is steroids.

atcually the normal reason they call then jumbo guppies is because they were seperated at birth which means they were not pregnated at an earlier stage which means they will grow at there proper rates and should give decent amount of fry in one birthing... when a guppy is pregnated too early it stunts there growth and leaves them permantly stunted or should i say a lower and slower growth rate with the uncertanty of how many babies they will have

unless they are on steriods

i have a few jumbo guppies and they have quite a few decent births

Some of the Moscows are really large for guppys. Dino Remember the Green Moscows I got at the auction a couple of years ago? And the huge reds we got at the LFS in E. Ridge?
Both seemed really delicate and neither lived very long and never produced.

I also believe larger sizes can be achieved thru keeping the fish at a higher temperature.
This also affects life span and fertility.
