Male dancing guppies

I picked up a new pair of guppies yesterday a yellow and black cobra real cool looking and a silver female. She is pregers so I have her in a 5g and the new male has been added to my my main tank with the other male I have.

The two seem to be dancing with each other its kinda funny they will chase each other around then stop turn sideways and shake making thier tails look really cool. They are doing this all the time and dont seem to be hurting each other.

As long as they dont hurt each other... I've never heard of it though.

It looks like they are doing a mating display they spread thier fins and wiggle them at each other.

A third male might be good, if your tank has room in the bio-load but the two are probably fine as is.

Currently I have a 20g with 3 tetras 1 neon the other 2 glo lite, 2 danios the 2 male guppies and a chianise alge eater. So I think I have the room.

I have 2 female 1 that will drop tonite or tomarow I think in a 5g alone and another in another 5 g of her own the males and females only are put together to mate in the female tanks then are removed back to the 20g tank.

I dont wana buy anymore guppies as with 1 female going to drop any day and the other pregeres I am going to be up to my eyes in guppies. Besides I really wana stop buying guppies and use the ones I breed to stock my tanks.

I got an awsome yellow and black cobra and a nice black blue silver with a red orange and black tail.

it is a form of fighting without fighting. they show how fast and strong they are to claim territory or ownership of females. you realy are best having 3 females to every male, also to stop the same females getting pestered all time and to reduce stress.

Like I said I dont have them in the same tank. My 2 females are in a tank alone I will introduce 1 male to that tank for a few days then remove him. My main tank is all male guppies 3 tetras and 2 danios.

Once my fry grow up from this drop of 50 I had on 4/28/08 I will be taking like 3 or 4 females from that drop and keeping them aswell the rest have homes.
