I have a guppy that is currently in isolation due to an outbreak of ick. No one else in the tank is showing symptoms. I put her in the hospital tank and its next to the regular tank. Her fish-bag buddy is spending alot of time near the area where their two tanks touch; they swim back and forth, up and down together. I think they miss each other. Smoke has been in quarantine for two whole days. I've treated with aquarium salt, raised the temp on the heater, and two drops of QuIck Cure- eight hours apart. Smoke isn't showing any more symptoms. I'm not sure if the parasite falls off or what but the sugar crystal lumps are gone from her body and tail. Regardless, I'd like to know when I can put her back in the main tank. Any advice?

Hi, CarinaJo.....unfortunately ick is in your tank. If these two were "bag buddies" the parasite is in the tank with the fish that wasn't showing symptoms. Good news, just raise the temperature of the tank over 82, and keep it there for 2 weeks, and all the ick should be dead.

I would say you could just put them together and not worry about it other than holding the temp up....
