Help with my Female guppy

I am new to guppies and I have one that is pregers. I have put her in a breeding tank as she is around her due date or should be based on when I got her how big she has goten and how the male has been acting.

What my quest is what do stressed guppies do?

I am sure she has been under some stress but I dont really know what to look for. Can you tell me some signs to look for for a stressed guppy or fish for that mater?

Any fish that is stressed will not act normally. Usually they will stop eating, will into swim freely in the tank, might hide or swim only near the top or stay hidden behind things in the tank.

The most stress free way to deal with guppies or any livebearer that I have dealt with is to have plenty of plant cover in the tank. Java moss, Java ferns , water sprite are all low cost plants that live in most tanks, even with low light conditions. These will give the fry places to hide and I don't usually worry about putting the females in a breeding box.

If I really want to protect the fry, I place the female in a separate tank....let her give birth, then remove her from the fry tank....

ANY water conditions with any ammonia, nitrite, or high nitrate will stress any fish and needs to be corrected, with water changes and proper care through the nitrogen cycle of the new tank.....Best to cycle fishless and do all the water tests to make sure it is complete BEFORE adding fish......

Sustina-flower has it covered and I like to let our livebearers drop their fry in their tank.. Guppies especially can hold onto the fry a while if they want.

I let mine give birth in their own tank and cup out the fry as i see them and put in the fry tank. This works pretty well. It seems every couple days i see new fry. I also have fake floating plants in the adult tank. I got guppy grass on the way though. As the fry get bigger they go into another tank. My first batch is a month old.
