guppy fry and the mom?

one of my guppys was pregnant and she had babys which i had expected and she was put in a different tank to give birth after that i moved her back to her tank. well now shes pregnant again and the fry from the last birth are still too small to put back in with the other guppys so i cant put her in the 5 gallon fish tank with the fry. right now i have the mom in a little fish bowl to give birth. the question here is will she be ok in such a small tank? should i risk putting her into the 5 gallon with the month old fry. she seems stressed since i moved her. will the stress effect the fry? o and i know im overstocked im getting a bigger tank this weekend 55 gallons yay!!!!!!!

Does the fry tank have any plants, or can you put some in there. Java fern and java moss are great, or any floating plants....I would put the female in with the month olds, it is less likely that she will bother them, than the new fry, and you can take her back out as soon as they are born.....

there are some floating plants and lots of algae and there is 1 big fake plant. do the moms get sluggish or lazy when they are really pregnant or do they not change when they are pregnant

She'd be best in her regular tank. The colder water and unfamiliar surroundings can stress her dangerously. Lots of hiding spots in her tank for the fry is the best way to go and what we do for our livebearers.

how many fry live through the birthing and growing though like what percentage? her regular tank has 2 males and another female i dont think many would live but if there is a trick to saving them other than a breeder box or net please share

Hiding places like floating plants, caves and even using flat glass marbles for substrate can give a good percentage the chance to make it to the size big enough to not be eaten. Our red fancy gups had about 95% survival rate.

I take care of mine like COBettaCouple, I just leave them in their own tank. I have shells, rocks, coral, and LOTS of Java Moss in my tank. I don't have guppies, but this tank has mollys and platties...every fish is different in the # of fry per birthing....Right now I have about 20 platty fry (which are really small compaired to the mollys), and about the same # of mollys.

One thing to remember in this method, you have to put something over the intake for your filter, and when you do water changes (should change some every day to keep nitrates and hormones down) you have to put a fine mesh bag over the syphon to keep from sucking up fry.... The more water changes, the faster and healthier the fry will grow....

My adults don't bother the babies any more, seems they don't see them as food, but the babies do still hide out in the moss....

how big do the fry have to get before they wont be seen as food or chased around to much. i dont want the little guys to get eaten or have a heart attack from to much stress

They don't look so much like snacks when they're too big to fit in the mouths of the bigger ones. There's always some chasing going on, but it's just normal and with more than 2 fish total, they'll be alright.
