Can a baby guppy tank be uncovered or does it need a hood?

I would get a hood just in case a baby guppy takes a trip to the floor

I would think it's a matter of personal choice really. I have guppys in covered and uncovered tanks. It is much easier to control the temperature in the covered tanks though.

Well it has a wire hood that's the best I can do

i doubt guppy fry would be able to jump out unless you filled it to the brim.. i dont think it matters but hoods would help retain heat and guppies like a warm tank so your best with a hood..

And of course a lid with a light will provide a steady "background" light so the fish won't be scared every time you turn the room light off and on.
