tasty

i had 3 male guppies in a 5 gallon tank and got a male betta to put in there. the lady at the pet shop said it would be fine but the betta took a chunk out of one of their tails. i put them in my 55 gallon tank with my dwarf gouramis, neons, rainbow shark, bristlenose pleco and swordtails. will they get along ok with these species?

Yea.. like so many pet shop employees, she doesn't know about fish. Betta & guppies are definitely not compatible. The guppies should be better off in the big tank, but their small size and flash tails do attract bigger fish. Do you have a lot of places they could hide around the tank?

yeah they have plenty of cover. they actually seem to be schooling with my swords. they are very energetic. like to play it the bubbles created by the airstone and bubble wall. they dont seem to be bothered at all. will the tail grow back on the one that got bitten? it is a beautiful blue/purple colour and it would be a shame if it didnt

the tail should heal up in time. liquid vitamins like VitaChem help speed that up. Guppies love current and air bubbles.
