True Black Moscow Guppies

We picked these up last month in Atlanta.
As seen in the male above, they are about 90% black.
Females are not as black, but are darker than other strains of guppies.

We had the first fry yesterday.
It looks like the babies are sexable at birth.
We have 5 babies, 2 are VERY dark, while the other three are much lighter in color.
I will keep track and see if this turns out to be the final sex ratio.

I found some really interesting info on Moscow Guppys while researching the guppys Dave asked about in another thread. Seems Moscow Guppys were developed in Russia 1980-1982ish and then they started to being bred in Germany. so I guess now we know why their called "Moscow guppys"
This article just says Europe and Germany- scroll down to the Moscow guppys(dave there is mention of Geissan Guppies also)

great link there Carol! i'd not heard about geissen's before, they were just such pretty gups, Stacy had to have them!

You got them at the auction? There are some listed at the Colorado Aquarium Club site also in their bowl show pics.

Yea, maybe we can find Dave Jones at the next meeting and ask about them.
