I have just introduced three female guppys into my tank. One of them has a dark patch under its tummy. does this mean it could be pregnant.

As flbcouple says its v.possible that she is. And apart from the spot the tummy is very likely to be huge.

the others have already said most of it, so this is probably not news to you. My guppy has a dark spot all the time, but then, she's always pregnant!

I would suspect that your guppy will deliver within the next two-three weeks, like it or not! Welcome to the world of breeding fish, as well as Fishlore! lol

Welcome to FishLore! Most live bearers come from the pet shop pregnant. Even if the pet shop separates male and females the shipper usually doesn't. That little dark spot is called a gravid spot and guppies can have fry every 28-30 days and can have four batches of fry from one mating.

I have bred guppies before and when ever a female has a black spot on the end of her abdomine that is the babie fry so she is pragnent.
