New Guppy Mummy

Hi

i have just got myself 4 female (pregnant) and 2 Male gupies from a pet shop then went to a different shop (first one did not have the tank i wanted) and the young guy asked me if i had already "cycled my tank" all i did was look at him blankly and say WHAT....everyone tells me to cyle and then others tell me NO NEED my big tank i did not cycle and i was going to put my guppies in with them, i then explained that i had lots dye and he sid my tank had spiked and would now go down with time and that with the fish i already have they would eat the guppies had i bought them, yep i said the guppies were in the car and i just wanted a hex tank to put them in.

he said OOOPS

i got the tank i wanted, he gave me some water from his guppy tank to bring home and put in a seperate tank with my guppies and said would only sell me the hex tank if i PROMISED to cycle it for two weeks and take some of my water back to him to test, i agreed to this and have decided that although his store is 25 mins from home i will deal with him always.

i also got a new canister filter for my big tank and it seems to be great.

well any way the guppies in guppy water in smaller tank, hex tank now cycling and big tank will just have to 'PLEASE SURVIVE" poor fish having a dummy mummy.

i will be watching my mummy's to be very closely and making sure they go into a guppy breading tank for the delivery and then will put fry into breading net tank, hope mums go a couple of days apart and give me time for the swap overs.

what is the best live plant to put in with my guppies - i know they need a brakish water and not sure what living plants survive in brakish water

Re: New Guppy Mummy

Guppies don't need brackish water. Some people will add a little salt to their water, but this is not really necessary.

Gook luck with your Guppies.

Re: New Guppy Mummy

Java Fern is a great plant, it doesn't need fancy expensive lights to look nice.
Java moss is great for any tank, but especially for tanks with fry, as they can both hide there and nibble on it for food.
