Cutest bubble nest ever :)

My male honey gourami is currently making his first bubble nest.

I feel like such a proud fish mom right now. Makes no sense, I know.

The details:
Two weeks ago I stumbled across two female honey gouramis. A couple days ago, I removed both males from the 12g. I put the smaller male in the QT and moved the females to the 12g after rearranging the plants. Then added the bigger male back to the tank.

A few hours ago, I added a new floaty plant. Holy cow! Apparently, that's all he was looking for because he's spent the past three hours diligently working on his little nest. It's so cute! He's making a lot of progress. It's night time for them right now, but I'll post some pics as soon as I can.

My dang mystery snail is eating the nest!!! Poor little gourami just started on it last night and when I went to take pics this morning, stupid Sheriff had his big behind in the middle of the nest (Gourami made it in the back corner on the glass) and poor little gourami was flitting back and forth and couldn't do anything to stop him.

He was working so hard on it after lights out last night, and I was so excited to get pics this morning, and now I'm pretty annoyed at that stupid snail.

*sigh* Well... at least I know the little cuties know their business. If my little gourami guy tries again, I'll get pics even if I have to turn his light back on.

Edit: Can it hurt my snails to gorge on fish eggs?

Hello Ilovee. Sounds like you have some wonderful Gourami's I don't think the snail will be harmed by eating fish eggs. I guess it would be a good idea to rehouse the snails when breeding time for the Gourami's takes place.
Best of luck for next time.

Hmmmm, in other words, an experienced and adept moderator highly recommends the need for another tank. Yes... that's what I'll tell my husband.

I do agree that my now very chubby Sheriff and his companion will be keeping my other gourami male company for now. A little aquatic version of Three's Company.
