Angry tank

I've noticed my tank which has been established for 9 months now has become rather hostile.

Last night one of my lemon tetras was looking poorly and I think he/she had their face nipped by someone. By morning it was dead.

Today when I got home from work I spied one of the lemons having a go at one of the smaller serpae tetras. I snapped my fingers at it and it backed off.

My current worry is one of my gold gouramis. She is missing half her tail, most of her dorsal fin and has lost some skin on her side.

The tank has four golds, a blue gourami, four (now) lemon tetras, three neons, three serpae tetras and two angel fish. The smaller angel has been a bit stressed of late too.

Any ideas as to how I can make the place chill a little? At this rate there will be a lot more carnage which won't make me happy.

im sorry for your losses....suggestons are a bigger tank or rehome some of the fish ...what size tank is this? tetras do best in larger schools....gourami's do best with 1 -2 for 30 gals of water with a ton of hiding spots..they are very territorial...minimum 20 gals for 2 angels but that should be all there is in there as their fin growth could be restricted with more fish ....so once the size of your tank is known, it can change or not on the situation ..

Hello,

Being Australian I'm not used to working in gallons. It's a 150l tank which I think is about 40 gallons.

opps sorry ..yes it is about 40g ..i think the tetras are understocked for their school and are bored ...so they are nipping and with that tank you cant really have a proper school of them with the other fish...if you can get another tank, id get another 150l or 200l and put your angels and blue gourami in one...keep your tetras in another with more of each school., and one gold gourami...ill bet the gourami's are going at each other as the golds are very aggressive the older they get...territories cant be established with that many in a 150l tank ...

They're living on top of one another, which gets old after a while. What are the sexes of the gouramis? The maximum number I would do in a 40 is 3 - 1m/2f.
