I added two dwarf blue gourami's to my 40 gallon about three months ago. Recently the male has been pretty aggressive to the female especially during feeding time. He doesn't seem to have a problem with any of the other fish in the tank (which are all very peaceful) but he chases and nips at the female to a point where her tail is now frayed Any suggestions?

They might just be tired of each other. Have you seen and bubble nests? The makes are really aggresive agianst the females after spawning. Dwarf gouramis are nasty little boogers when they are cramped in smaller places.

they may be the same sex also...gouramis dont need others of their own and most of the time injure or kill eachother in a tank your size, one gourami is recommended and 2 with a ton of hiding spots..but its already evident, one of yours isnt going to place nice with others ..id remove the injured one before it is hurt even more
