my golden gourami is such a character.Its true fish have thier own personalities.I am thinking of getting another but since they would come from different homes they may not get along. I believe 2 males would bicker and I cant seem to tell males from females of the species. Ant thoughts/comment??

IMO, two gouramis will fight when they get older and a 30 gallon would be too small for them to establish separate territories.

Hopefully, a "gourami" guru member will be along shortly that may be able to help you differentiate between the males and females.
