Ctenopoma ansorgii - "Orange Bush Fish"

Hello everyone! I have some questions about a seemingly hard-to-find fish that caught my eye in a tropical fish book. The book called it an "Orange Bushfish", although a search on Google didn't pull up very much. The scientific name got me much more information - Ctenopoma ansorgii. The book (and some websites) showed it was an anabantid.

It's a really beautiful fish, and I was thinking about going to my local fish shop and requesting them to order one.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with this fish. I have a tank with a Paradise fish, Blue Gourami, and 5 gold barbs, and I'm concerned that my Paradise fish and this Orange Bush fish would have a conflict with one another. D:

That, and would it be expensive (for me, meaning over $10-15)? Does it need any special diet? Tank conditions? The searches I made on Google came up with two sites that listed completely different tank environments for the same fish.

Thanks to anyone who knows. I just wanted to research this fish a little before I go and buy it to realize I can't properly take care of it.

I'D say it's a predatory fish; if it's in the ctemopoma sub.,that is rated difficult to keep. Never seen one it's girgeous ! Perhaps someone will see this dated poat and reply.

It sure is a pretty fish and you were right about hardly getting anything on google. I'm guessing that they might want a tank to itself or themselves. I might want to feed it baby guppys, or something else like a con fry or something. They might like some live bloodworms or wingless fruitflies. They would probably need a 20 gallon atleast. It would probably want a slow moving water flow. You were lucky that your other gouramis don't fight. I mixed my 3spots with 2 paridise fish and I lost both paridise fish along with one three spot.
