Shy Blue's

I've got two blue gourami's in my 70 gallon tank.

3 sailfin mollys
8 platys
5 ottos
8 boseman rainbows
5 cory cats

pH= 7.0

ammonia and nitrates are fine, i checked them yesterday

Kept at 78 degrees.

So... My two blues when i got them were awsome. They were active. always slimming around. They grew to eat out of my hand and everything.

But, I have had them for about 6 months now. And all they do now is sit together at the bottom. Its like their scared or something. They never come up to the top to eat. But i know their eating, because they would have been dead by now.

Any idea's on whats going on?

thanks

Have you noticed them being picked on by the rainbows?

No, the rainbows do keep to themselves.

But they are very very active, and you have to step back when you feed, because the rainbows will splash water everywhere.

I have considered that though. But the rainbows never pick on anything, their just hyper

was anything added new recently?(fish wise) what is your nitrite reading? could a mini cycle have snuck up on you? them spending time on the bottom is something serious as they are labyrinth fish and need the top for air for living as im sure you know ....can you maybe get a small divider to separate them and see if they are less shy? are they breathing funny at all? sorry for the questions and just trying to see what could be wrong...I hope they improve soon !!

I might have to see about getting a divider.
