We have a set of Opaline Gouramis in out 75g tank and lately they have beena cting weird.

The female hides back in the corner of the tank while the male hangs out above her and chases off anything that gets near her. He will also chase her back down to the corner where she's been hiding out and then go back to hanging out above the plants she hides in.

He has also been uprooting the fake plants in our tank, too.

Maybe their to breeding, and this is some sort of weird protection of the eggs. I don't know for sure though, so you probably want to wait for other people.

Not sure about the uprooting, but I agree with MeGusta that they are likely in breeding mode. A lot of fish (and other animals) that pair off during breeding or mate for life show these kinds of responses to other animals.

Breeding gouramis is a little complicated compared to many other fish.
