I just need a little help and hints on how to cure my two sick gouramis
One is a male opaline who's fins are starting to look raggy and now he seems to be developing ulcer like sores on his body. the other is a female pearl who has had what looks like sores from a past ammonia or nitrate issue from before I got them. they are both currently still in my 150 gal with the other fish. They both are acting fine, swimming normally and eating but the other issues seem to be getting worse. I've been reading all the posts on columnaris
and some of the symptoms seem similar but there is no sign of worms or things growing on my glass so I'm thinking fin rot probably. I just reset up a 10 gal with water from the big tank but new filters (no carbon just floss stuff).
My questions are
1) when should I move them into 10 gal (do I need to wait for it to cycle?)
I am so not looking forward to having to catch and net these poor buggers!!
2) what should I treat these guys with
3) and once I start medicating do I need to do daily water changes or will that remove

Thanx - very helpful site - somewhat overwelming tho - it seems like it could be Pseudomonas bacteria - anybody know it? They say to treat with either Kanamycin, neomycin or gentamycin. Now I looked them up and the treatment applications are pretty straight forward but the one thing I'm not sure about is the gram negative, gram positive part and how that will affect the tank. (I thought I remember reading a thread somewhere about this) And for that matter should I be leaving them in the main tank and treating everyone even though they all look fine?
