Paradise fish

I have some questions about paradisefish. I would like one but I can't find specific care instructions, does anyone own them or know their needs? Can I have them in a tank at "room temperature"?(the 25w heater isn't doing its job very well) I have a spare 7.5 gallon, can I keep it in that?

yeh it would be fine in the 7.5 Gallon
And it will be fine at room temperature, when paradis fish were first bought to the UK a long time ago they were kept in goldfish bowls that were unheated

Paradise fish grow to about 4", and are quite active and curious.

They should be kept in tanks decorated with plants, rocks and driftwood and should have about 20 gallons.

They're quite hardy, not picky about food and don't need a heater unless your home temperature gets really low.

Remember they are very aggressive and should be kept alone like bettas. I have future plans for a 10 gallon well planted tank with a paradise fish in it and nothing else.

all paradise fish need to be in at least a 20 gal. long tank...they are very active swimmers and need at least that much room to swim

as others have stated they are very hardy, and not at all picky about food, as long as the temp of their water is between 73 and 78 they will be fine without a heater

7.5 gal is WAY too small for a paradise fish they really need lots of swimming room

i have succesfully breed paradise fish in the past and even the newly hatchted (sp?) babies got a 10gal until they were about an inch long

please do more research on these fish before u buy them

also, make sure u have a tight-fitting hood on your tank as they will jump out

A 20 gallon to itself? Just for a paradise fish?

seems kinda big for just that fish. Aren't they like low temperature siamese fighters that you can keep in a smaller tank?

I don't know...

no not just for itself, but it does need that much room to swim in...u can add other fish that are compatible, but dont forget the 1" per gallon rule

Maybe you could put a male and female in a 20Gallon and then have a 15Gallon or something for the female when the male looks after the eggs

paradises need to be 2 females for every male...if its just 1:1 the male will stress the female to death in a matter of weeks...and to keep three 4" fish u will need at least a 29gal.
so if u are just keeping 1 male, a 20gal long will be sufficient...but to add females u will need at least a 29gal
