To sex, or not to sex?

I'm new, but I've had tanks off & on in my life!

I know this same stupid question keeps being asked over & over, but what is the
final consensus on sexing Dwarf Gouramis? I know about Bright color vs drab; and I know about round vs pointed dorsal fin; and I know we in the US probably very rarely get females, because they're not as attractive & colorful. But I have one Neon Blue Dwarf (the turquoise w/ red stripes) w/ a very pointed dorsal currently keeping watch over his bubble nest and a Neon Red Dwarf (Red/Orange w/ turquoise fins) w/ rounded dorsal fin and they occasionally do this cute little dance w/ each other, head to tail in sort of a circle, fins pumped up and gyrating or vibrating for each other's pleasure. No fighting really, except that he's slightly protective of his nest now. I'd like to think the red one is female, but I haven't seen the actual spawning embrace. I guess if there are no fry in the future, they must be both males? (I'll try to post a couple photos)
Thx for any input

Hi!

Neon blue is plain neon, am I correct? I call neon with red stripoes classical - as it's the origional dwarf. They sound like Male/Female. You might not see fry.

Thanks for the reply!

I tried to upload some photos that show them both very clearly, but I don't think it worked. Maybe pics were too big. I'll try again.

Hi Hatchet Crazy,

I'm meant to reply to you personally, but since I'm a newbie, I'm not well versed in this yet. I've been trying to download some pics of the pair, but I'm not sure how successful I've been.

Anyway, I DID want to thank you for your reply...it was the only one I got. I'm sure everyone is sick of the sexing Gourami issue...

Hi!

Personally, I believe unless you are willing to invest an extreme amount of time into breeding a new strain of Dwarf gourami, you shouldn't cross the strains.
