you have two you say... red robin gouramis huh?... do you notice any color differences? Such as one fish having drabber coloration than the other. or if they both seem to have the same coloration, if they're both bright red or drabber silver in some areas, you have either two males or two females (bright red=male, silver-ish=female).
As for your "pelvic fin" which is the technical fish term for "whisker", one being shorter than the other shold be any problem. My friend has a betta with the same problem, AND he's in a community tank with DANIOS. Nothings wrong with him, and bettas and gouramis are in the same family, anabantids, so nothing should be wrong.
