new to gourami

hey guys,

I have a 10g. I am working my way through my first cycle now with no fish (pure ammonia). When I get cycled I am going to be looking to put two fish in. Is a pair of gouramis a good choice? If so what type?

If not what are two fish I can get in there that will get along with a pair of gourami.

Sounds like males are pretty territorial. Can I have mulitiple females in the same tank. Will the males leave eachother alone0 if there are enough females? There are many types that I like. I am thinking just of have 6 or so gouramis in my 10g and nothing else, different types. Good idea? I don't know so any advice is helpful!

well 6 would be to much in a ten gallon and see smaller tanks would lead to more agression becuase there are alot more likly to keep metting eachother..some are more peacefull then others the all are pretty nice looking..stick around for more help..i recomend maybe only having two..but your would be better off going with somthing else

6 Gourami or any of it's species is too many for a 10gal.
If you really want Gourami then go with Trichogaster trichopterus.
They are much more docile (most of the time). 1 male, 2-females and maybe a couple cory or an otto.

Or you could go with schooling fish. Maybe 5 lyretail, 5 cory and an otto
Or tetra, or even cardinals if your ph is low enough

Just remember the 1 inch per gallon rule does not apply to semi aggressive fish.
With schooling fish you can increase that number to 1-1/4 inch per gallon.

in a 10G you could have 1 male dwarf and 2 females, but that is all.
