hi i'm neville, i'm a new fish tank owner. i kept two comets (both are 6 inches) in a 10 gallon tank. i have some questions . can i put any other goldfish in here? can i feed them green leafy vegetables? how ofen should i feed them bloodworms? should i keep the airpump running 24 hrs or 12 hrs?

Hi,

I wouldn't recommend putting another fish in that tank. If you have too many fish in too small of a space it will cause all sorts of problems, plus it's not healthy for the fish. Perhaps look into upgrading tank size to add to your aquatic family? bloodworms and green leafies should not be their staple diet. Use them as supplements, every once in awhile. Sort of as a treat! There is no harm in running the airpump 24hours a day, so if it were me I would continue to do so ..... Hope this helps!

hi neville, i am not sure how big comets grow to. but if they are both 6 inches long now you have 12inches of fish in a 10 gallon tank... you are overstocked!!!!... please dont place anymore fish in there. sorry to be the bearer of bad news. you will need to buy a bigger tank for them. first find out how big they get when fully grown. the general rule here is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. but that is adult size when they are fully grown and if you can provide say 2gallons per inch the fish will return the favour by being a little more happy and healthy for you

The general recommendations for goldfish is 20 gallon for the first goldfish and 10 gallons for each additional goldfish. They are such huge waste producers that they need the extra room and they can get really big.
Bloodworms are high in protein and prone to constipate fish if fed too often so once a week is probably enough. Goldfish enjoy greens so a peeled green pea once in awhile would be appreciated and good if your fish do get constipated. Blanched lettuce leaves are good. For every day a good flake or sinking goldfish pellet is good.
