Goldfish Update

A while back I posted about my family having 2 goldies that were both living in bowls. Well, a tragedy struck with my own fish and I now have an empty tank, but it is only 5 gallons and that is nowhere near big enough for the goldies to both live in.

I am gonna either A) ask for a 20 gallon kit for x-mas for the goldies, or B) Sell my 5 gallon/filter/decorations and see if I can't find a cheap 20 on craigslist.

The goldies are a comet and a common goldie. The comet, Gus, has lived a remarkable 4 years in his little bowl (my mom does weekly water changes, but its not enough obviously). The common goldie, Gromit, was actually a feeder fish my mum randomly decided to save. He's been around for about 1 year. Both are doing well somehow, despite less-than-ideal conditions.

My mom's afraid to move the goldies to a bigger tank because of all the problems I've had with my filtered, cycled tanks :/ She's of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality when it comes to this. Don't get me wrong, she LOVES these goldfish and doesn't intentionally do the wrong thing.

So... here's hoping for a nice x-mas present xD

good luck! if you've had them for so long in confined spaces then they are most likely stunted. They should be dine in the 20g, but if you want the best for them i would aim maybe for a 29g or maybe even a 30g

You could always show her the picture I took of my "feeder" goldfish in a goldfish bowl - that might help...

Hello Hooxeii. Here is a link that maybe you can show to your Mom.
Goldfish Caresheet

Gremlin: Beautiful! Please note that Gremlin has her fish in what I call a brandy sniffer (teehee) for photo purposes only.

I bought him as a "feeder" goldfish from WalMart. Most of my goldies started out as the little 10 cent feeder goldies from either WalMart or PetsMart.

Red1313 - Yes, he was mad at me - even though he was only in the "bowl" for less than a minute then right back into the pond. Of course, I was cleaning the pond at the time so ALL my goldies were mad at me. That's okay though, they forgave me when I gave them all tubifex worms and shrimp pellets as a treat after I was done.
