Hello Shellbell,

I see.... that is your quarantine tank. Very interesting that there are only a few big rocks on the tank floor. Makes the tank look huge without stuff in it! I'm sure the fish are enjoying it until they get in their forever home. When they move in, please post pictures!

They look awesome..... So why do you not have any gravel covering the bottom of the tank? I only ask this because I do have gravel in my tanks and I was curious.

Robin
Robin,
I do not use any gravel in my goldfish tanks because they are messy fish and the gravel can hide nasty stuff and the bare bottom is so much easier to keep clean and i do not have to worry so much about any hidden problems

Is Pumpkin keeping his color/patterning? It would be interesting if he keeps the black and orange color - that would be cool.

So far he is keeping the color,But I have only had him for a few weeks now LOL I hope he continues to do so I just love him More than likely from what I have read he will loose the black, and my black moor will probably turn orange as well (LOL)

I thought that black moors specifically retained their black color?

Black moors usually do keep their color - they have been genetically bred for it. It is when a goldie has orange and black that they usually lose the black. Then there is the calico coloring - usually a white background with orange and black/blue mottled colors.

I've actually seen both. The ones that stay all black, and the ones that get the metallic shine through the black that makes it look more brassy. A friend of my Great Uncle (my Mom's uncle's friend) raised fancy goldfish. We could look at them if we wanted, but we were not allowed to come within 10 feet of the tanks. He actually had a different rug around the tanks and we were not allowed to step on the rug. He had one tank that was, basically, the division between the kitchen and the living room. It was huge.

Yeah, we didn't go visit too often because Unc didn't like kids in his house. He was a playwright and taught theater at (I think) ASU. He had collectibles displayed everywhere and "no one touches it". He had a doll - 14" tall maybe - of Galadriel from the Lord of the Rings. He had a beautiful huge marble fireplace - that never saw a flame. He had it set up to look like those fancy magazines, but never ever ever used it. He was a collector. He had a "champion" basset hound that "only likes me" so the dog was put in the bedrooms when company came. That kind of thing. Material possessions meant more to him than anything else. Oh well.
