blowing bubbles

Hi, I have a 10 gal with 1 very small goldfish, I believe he was a feeder that somehow survived. I've had him for about a year. Well he is now in the upper corner of the tank blowing bubbles. Like there is a whole row of them, then he goes to the bottom and picks around then back up to the corner and more bubbles. I noticed it doing this once before but never paid it much attention. Is it anything to this!!

Probably just playing. Goldfish are very playful. Do you plan on upgrading to a larger tank soon? 10 gallons is really too small for a goldfish. My sister's goldies spawned this year and her 5 month old fry are already between 3 and 4 inches long. If your goldie is still "very small" after 1 year, it is likely that his growth has been stunted. Getting him in a larger tank as soon as you can will allow him to start growing normally again.

He has grown significantly since I had it, and the color has turned from pale to very very orange. It probably was a little more than a fry when I got it. Its about 3 inches or more and yes I have a 20 gal for it, just need a couple of things for it. When I say very small it is indeed small compared to most goldfish I see. I was just curious regarding the bubbles!!!!

Thanks much

No problem. Goldies are fun to watch. They can entertain themselves (and us) with the simplest things...
