Is this normal goldfish behaviour? Chasing around?

The two other fish seem to like to chase around the pure orange looking goldfish:

Other details:

Today I re-transferred the 3 goldfish back into my aquaponic system - The ammonia PPM in the previous tank was 1.0 or 2.0 and they were in there for roughly 2 or 3 days (I can't remember). For some reason the two white and orange coloured goldfishies keep chasing around the pure orange coloured goldfish.

Hello Confuzedd. In my opinion it's normal gold fish behavior.

My two chase each other around alot as well. I don't think it's terribly unusual. If no one is being hurt or overly stressed I wouldn't worry about it.

Hello!

If this is a new tank, my guess is that they are figuring out their social hierarchy in their new living environment. I've seen this with my goldfish--whenever I added a new fish to the tank, it received a nasty welcome from the others. It used to scare me a lot for the new fish, but they always turned out to be in a good harmony after a day or so.

The orange fish is clearly being chased around, and this should not be their normal or continuous behavior. I hope they will settle down after a few days in their new home. If not, you may have to look into what can be causing the stress. I'm not sure of your situation with this tank, but I think some plants or ornaments will give them hiding places and make them feel safer than a bare tank.

Good luck!

It looks to me to possibly be mating behavior. The males will chase and nip at the females to try to stimulate egg laying. You could possible have two males and one female. If this is the case, you need to have some fairly dense plants in there somewhere for the female to hide in so she can get away from the males. If you have a heater in with them, lowering the temp a bit too will help (or just remove the heater since they don't need one). The warmer spring and summer temps can trigger mating behavior.

I do not believe this is normal as the history of this tank leads me to believe they are very stressed ..this link of your other thread, As the ammonia steadily rises while cycling with fish... and now this vid, is showing goldies that are not exploring and being little scavengers and acting normal in mating behavior ...I think you need to keep them in their original tank and maybe once the tank is cycled with proper daily water changes, they may stop this behavior ...but being pushed back and forth between tanks is stressing them IMO ..good luck with them!
