My black goldfish started out as a feeder fish from WalMart. I tried to pick one that would stay the copper color, and I actually found one that stayed copper! He is definitely my favorite - he looks like black velvet.

Gremlin, he's gorgeous! I can't believe he started out as a feeder. He's huge!

Wow, he's a beauty! What size tank did you put him in to take the pic?

I love him! (as commented) I'm really in awe of his fins though.

He is in a 2.5 gallon for the pic. My goldies live in a 180 (approximately) gallon pond. I've had him for at least 6 years. He is not the largest, but he is up there. I also have several that are smaller. My second favorite male is about half the size of this one. I don't have any pics of him right now. He is all orange, but his fins are already as long as the black's.

He's not quite that big yet...I would need a bigger pond first. My sister's pond is about 600 - 700 gallons and her fish are almost twice the size of mine. One of these days I will have room to put a larger pond in.

The biggest fish I have body wise is my female shubunkin. Several of my males are longer if you go by their fins, but their bodies are actually smaller than my shubunkin.

OMG! Gorgeous. I have a copper pom pom who's about an inch and a half long. I hope he grows to be a beauty like yours!
