is this normal??

my ryukin bubba has been acting strange. I've had fancies bfore, but never a ryukin, so i've been watching him, and he is very active, he eats, poops, swims, everything seems normal, except one thing. Whenever he stops moving, he like wobbles to the side and then he starts swimming again.. cold it be from the filter current?? Is it too strong??

I wouldn't worry about it if he is still active and eating. Lots of times I've noticed fancy goldfish have odd swimming behaviors like this, especially ryukins and bubble eyes.

hi Tony, try shutting off the filter and/or bubbler, and see how he swims.

Also, what do you feed him? Fancies with egg-shaped bodies are prone to swim bladder issues, so they shouldn't have too much flake (if at all ) because they gulp in too much air with flakes.

Sometimes the beginning of a swim bladder problem presents itself with a fish leaning to one side, as you say. So keep an eye on him. And if you're feeding flake, I suggest stopping altogether.

there's lots of food ideas in the goldie forum, like gel food, and softened fresh veggies.
