Copycat oranda

I'm getting such a kick out of watching my two new goldfish in the quarantine tank. On Thursday I bought a red & white oranda, she was very shy and spent the first 2 days hiding out in a corner at the bottom.

The next nite when I added the fantail, she perked right up, and has been imitating whatever the fantail does. The fantail spent his first day mostly up at the surface in the corner..... so the oranda did the same, and stayed right next to him.

The next day the fantail felt more comfortable, and started digging around in the gravel. Yep, the oranda started doing the same.

Today, they're both swimming in and out of the arch decoration I have in there.... totally entertaining themselves..... until they see me, then the beg-for-food-dance starts. It's only been 3 days, how quickly they learn !

btw, I have no idea if they're male or female at this point. lol. But you know how you just get a feel about it ? Now that I've decided the sex of them I have to work on naming them.

Hello. That's the cutest thing ever... I'm sure they are enjoying themselves in their new home!

I have a quick question--rocks and driftwood in your tanks, did you arrange them like so to make arches and pass ways, or were they sold looking like that?

I have a brand new 55gal tank for my goldfish and looking for nice decorations for it. I want to go for more of a natural look rather than something like a sunken ship or a underwater castle, if you know what I mean. I had to ask because I really like what you've done with your tanks. They are beautiful!

How about Frodo and Sam from the Lord of the Rings? Sam always followed Frodo around.....

or Oscar and Felix from the odd couple, or ... Laverne and Shirley ... or

does the one waiting have a name yet? Maybe Larry Moe and Curly?

thanks for the compliments on my fish & tank ! The large river rock is available at most pet stores, I think i got mine at Petco, and the driftwood piece I got at Petsmart, online, here's the link to the product
http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...n=Product+Type

the fish loved that thing ! They'd always swim in and out of the arches, it was cool to watch. But I already took it out of the tank. My fish are getting big, quickly !!! So I took it out to give them more swimming room.
Plus I was worried that my larger oranda might get stuck inside one of the smaller holes. She likes giving me a heart attack on a daily basis...lol.

too bad you don't live nearby, I'd give it to you, as I'm not using it anymore ! It's sitting in my "fish closet".

I just bought a 50g, but still need to find a proper stand for it. Then I'll be changing the decor all over again. I already have a smaller piece of driftwood, and some cool silk plants I bought online.
(I'm always changing around my tanks... hence, the fish closet stuffed with tank decor! )
